One of the best evidences in Vietcombank’s positive improvement in enhancing security in card payment transactions is the implementation of 3D Secure from December 2018. With outstanding advantages of safety – security – convenience, 3D-Secure has been received and used by most Vietcombank cardholders.
What is 3D Secure?
According to Vietcombank, 3D-Secure is an extra layer of protection for Vietcombank cardholders when making online transactions.
With this method, when performing transactions on e-commerce websites, besides normal authentication steps, Vietcombank will send an additional one-time transaction password (OTP) via text message or email for customers to enter. and complete the transaction.
3D-Secure ensures that only the customer, as the cardholder, will have the password to complete the transaction.
As a preeminent solution, 3D-Secure is applied by international card organizations and has different names such as Safe Key (Amex), Verified by Visa (Visa), Mastercard SecureCode or Master ID check (Mastercard), J -Secure (JCB) ”.
What types of cards does 3D-Secure apply to?
According to Vietcombank, 3D-Secure is applied free to international credit and debit cardholders with American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and JCB brands issued by Vietcombank.
To be protected by 3D-Secure, customers need to register a phone number / email to receive a one-time transaction password (OTP) with the bank. The specific registration method is as follows:
– With the method of receiving OTP via SMS: Vietcombank automatically registers 3D-Secure for cardholders who have used the method of receiving OTP via SMS on other transaction channels (such as VCB-iB @ nking). In case the customer has not registered, please go to the nearest Vietcombank branch for instructions.
– Method of receiving OTP via email: Customers can register to receive OTP via email (in case they cannot receive OTP via SMS).
Vietcombank notes that the method of receiving OTP via SMS is a mandatory method, the method of receiving OTP via email is only an option if the cardholder cannot receive OTP via SMS.
How to use 3D-Secure when paying online?
– Step 1: Select goods and services from online website with 3D-Secure logo
– Step 2: Enter payment information as required
– Step 3: Choose the form of receiving password to authenticate transactions via SMS / Email
– Step 4: Enter the password to authenticate transactions provided by Vietcombank via SMS / Email
– Step 5: The transaction will be further processed and completed.
